A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

The Acheron Express - A train to a new life. Or, for one unlucky person, a new afterlife.

Made as part of CSCC's Game Development & Design course, The Acheron Express is currently a work in progress. Please feel free to play and leave feedback! 
The game is a narrative driven murder mystery, a love letter to classic whodunits and modern branching stories.

KNOWN ISSUES: 

Rarely, pressing two buttons at once while examining will make the game fully lock up.

The CurrentObjective needs to be clicked to update.

The music resets when entering a new train car.

Entering a new train car breaks the onHover and onClick sound effects. 

Journal pages do not turn.

Footstep effect is too quiet.

A NPC appears in player's periphery upon entering the sleeper car door from the main car.

Music does not play in settings menu.

Music volume slider is not functioning.

DEVLOG: 

New Features: 

-Sound Effects are now added to some buttons. 

-Sound Effects for walking are present 

-Sound Effects for Train Sounds are present 

-Music is now playing. 

-NoteTaking Sound should only now play once

-The names of NPCs can now update after you've found out who they are in the story 

-A new crosshair graphic was added 

-Windows and Curtains added to every train car

 -Added a new model for the friendly man

 -Added in a train tunnel which appears rarely

 -Credits screen has been implemented

Bug fixes: 

-Fixed an issue where the player could leave the main car during the tutorial (for real this time, hopefully!)

 -Fixed an issue where the player was getting soft locked in when examining items after early tutorial completion.

Art style still really looks neat, though given the type of game this is, I'm actually a little concerned the talking system seems to still be having a bit of bugs with it... when I tried to follow the directions I ended up with a weird bug where it was like a conversation was trying to be there, but wasn't, and wouldn't let me do anything? but once I restarted it didn't happen... very weird.

That being said, it's really nice to see the watch being animated now. Now it just needs more interaction with the clues and journal.

Very neat graphics style! I can definitely see where it is going and it works really well. A couple bugs that will definitely want to be addressed: 1; if you are in middle of talking to someone when the first "hour" is up, it puts it back into walking mode, without clearing the text, making it impossible to interact with anything anymore. Also, if the player is turning while the player input is limited due to the "announcements" it keeps turning until the announcement is over. Also, everyone disappears after the first hour moment, not sure if that was intentional? Also, the cop placement makes it very hard to get to the door behind him... can't wait to see what you do next with it!
